A Visit to the Great Wall
Stones' gathered silence
greets visitors here,
this place of
perception and distance
Whisper its secret:
In immortality lies
this meandering serpent's
sole purpose.

I, a foreign devil
will crawl its back
in small contemplation,
a wandering day-fly
emerged in the chattering tourists,
descendents of Khan and of Edo
who will take with them to their lands
the spoils of their cameras.
