grays

a gray sky:

all day, overcast

flecks, patches and shades

of just gray

not dove-gray

or teal-gray

or slate-gray

just gray and more gray,

unwelcome party guests

jostling 'round in the sky

they've rudely trampled the blue

not a trace of it left --

but maybe the sun

got some time out of this

to spend by itself…
